Eve Arden starring as Connie Brooks in the sitcom series "Our Miss Brooks"

Our Miss Brooks was successfully transferred to television beginning in 1952 (it had begun as a radio program in 1948). It had a total of 154 episodes and ran on CBS from 1953-1962.

Between gentle wisecracks, Miss Brooks (Eve Arden) doted on nerdish student Walter Denton (Richard Crenna) and frequently locked horns with crusty, cranky principal Mr. Conklin (Gale Gordon) Many of the program's episodes, however, revolved around Miss Brook's unrequited desire for Philip Boynton(Robert Rockwell) the school's biology teacher. In this way Miss Brooks was the beginning of a long list of TV spinsters, to be followed by Sally Rogers (Rose Marie) on The Dick Van Dyke Show and Jane Hathaway (Nancy Kulp) on The Beverly Hillbillies.

Tidbits about the series Sea Hunt:

The premise was simple. Mike Nelson was an ex-navy frogman who had become a freelance undersea investigator, crime solver and rescuer. traveling around the world and operating aboard his trusty vessel the ARGONAUT, he rescued a trapped aviator in a sunken plane, brought up stolen goods, located hidden clues, and encountered an amazing number of underwater criminals ( including one ingenious fellow who was going to blast his way into the vault of a seaside bank).

His employers were insurance companies, salvage firms, a Hollywood movie maker, and many times the US Government. There was a great deal of action including underwater fights and occasional chases on sea scooters. But mostly, the attraction was simply the surreal world of the deep. When the series began perhaps 25 percent of the action took place underwater

The Rifleman starring Chuck Connors

The Rifleman television series ran from September 30, 1958 to July 1,1963 for a total of 168 episodes..

The Rifleman was the saga of Lucas McCain, a homesteader in the Old West struggling to make a living off his ranch and make a man out of his motherless son, Mark. Chuck Connors, a former professional baseball player, won critical acclaim for his portrayal of Lucas, and young Johnny Crawford was also started on a successful career by this series.

The setting was the town of North Fork, New Mexico, whose marshal seemed incapable of handling any of the numerous desperadoes who infested the series (as they did all western series) without the help of Lucas. Helpful too, was the trick rifle that Lucas always carried, a modified Winchester with a large ring which cocked as he drew. Supposedly, he could fire off his first round in three-tenths of a second, which certainly helped in a showdown.
